Javanese citronella is at least twice as strong as the common variety of citronella (nardus), as it is commonly found only in Java and is relatively rare. Insects have not been able to develop immunity to it due to insufficient exposure.

The oil can be used in a variety of ways:

When applied to the skin, diluted in a carrier oil such as almond oil, citronella oil produces a slight sensation of warmth - which relieves aching muscles and joints. From a mental perspective, the scent of citronella oil can help with nervous fatigue thanks to its clarifying properties.

It can also relieve pressure during migraines and headaches. Citronella oil blends well with cedarwood, orange, geranium, lemon and bergamot.
